Do you think it's safe to self-wax the hair above my lip?

like all my myself?Do you think it's safe to self-wax the hair above my lip?
yes... try cold wax strips. less messy and you can cut the strips out to fit your upper lipDo you think it's safe to self-wax the hair above my lip?
I guess it depends on the product. Some over the counter waxes are more trouble than they are worth and are very messy and hardly effective. I used one the other day on my lip and I had to wax and strip like six times before I gave up in pain...and I still had some stray hairs here and there. You should let someone else do it, preferably a professional but a friend with a good eye, steady hand and patience is also good. Be sure to use the oil that comes with the product (and maybe some alcohol) or you will break out.
It can be done %26amp; there are pre-waxed strips cut just for this purpose. (ex. Parissa or Moujan)

Apply it only once on each side- repeatedly applying %26amp; ripping it off to get it right/remove all the hairs will irritate your skin.

It takes practice %26amp; confidence.
if you know how then sure its safe! but if you dont you might just get a rash or something.. so be around someone who knows first and see if youre doing the right thing..
yeah, i don't see anything wrong with it... i've done it... just make sure you follow the instruction of the wax hair removal stuff that you buy.
no

let the professional do that for you
Yes. I do it all the time....same as the eyebrows. It's not a big deal.
its safe

Can someone tell me the step by step procedures on how to wax the hair? and has anyone..?

is it effective? And can you tell me the step by step procedures on how to wax the hair? am i going to dry the cream first, or ill remove the strip as soon as I applied the cream? Can someone tell me the step by step procedures on how to wax the hair? and has anyone..?

  • I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday, and now a mole i had under the hair is showing??

how can i cover it up??? it looks horible!!! school is tomorrow!!!I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday, and now a mole i had under the hair is showing??
Cover it up with foundation :]

then put either concealer on makeup

    to hide the color :]

    BA?

-KayleaI got my eyebrows waxed yesterday, and now a mole i had under the hair is showing??
My answer was so much better.

it's beautiful to have a mole near eyebrows.
i thinks moles are cute actually....leave it alone and try not to wax the mole anymore thats not good for your moles
try naturol tone color....over top of it like make-up.鈾モ櫏
kay, if it is such a big deal cover it with make up....duh!

but i myself think moles are cute, even around the eyebrow. well depending on how many there is...LOL
Never wax or pluck hair from a mole. It greatly increases your chances of growing cancerous cells.

A good waxer would never knowingly wax a mole.

    Maybe concealer would help?
If you can't cover it with foundation you can get it cut of its sounds horrible but its only a simple trip to your GP I've had a few cut off and it takes about a week to heal but worth it in the long run.If your the type of person that doesn't scar much you'll never have to worry about it again.
Use an eyebrow pencil and draw over it.

Use light strokes to draw over it.

Make sure to get a color that matches your eyebrow color.

Good luck on your first day of school! :D
What's the big deal, it's just a mole! Totally natural and I'm sure no one will notice it but you. Covering up every single day will be very tedious.

Hair removal? Anyone use an epilator? Usually wax but am thinking about buying an epilator? Any advice?

Should i stay with waxing or go for the epilator?Hair removal? Anyone use an epilator? Usually wax but am thinking about buying an epilator? Any advice?
I say you stay with waxing .. a lot less painful and very quick .. epilators are torture .. leave my skin red and stinging ..Hair removal? Anyone use an epilator? Usually wax but am thinking about buying an epilator? Any advice?
hi, there i think u shud stay with waxing only as its best and u never get any type of side effects with it

but i not sure tht for wat body part r u asking if cn mention go for it then it ll bmore easy to tell u .........
As someone whos used all methods of hair removal, i'd highly recommend you'd stick with waxing. Even if you think your pain threshold is high, epilating really hurts to the point it's ineffective because you simply cant bring yourself to continue with it. And it gives similar results to waxing anyway-same amount of 'grab' on shorter hairs.
    Hi

I just buy epilator and believe it is very horrible

I have pen using epilator and also some rashes

my skin is sensitive but I feel epilatoe is not good

idea use wax or hair remove cream

    Personal experience

    I hope this help U

    Good Luck!!!

Can I shave during the month leading up to laser hair removal. I know I can't tweeze or wax. Thanks!?

Rather ask the people who would be performing the lhr on you, opinion here would vary and might not be accurate. Also for all we know different centres could have different rules regarding that. Can I shave during the month leading up to laser hair removal. I know I can't tweeze or wax. Thanks!?
i would ask a professional to be sure

but from what i know, during the time between treatments they actually tell you to shave the area anyway so i think it should be fine :)Can I shave during the month leading up to laser hair removal. I know I can't tweeze or wax. Thanks!?
I would say yes as you are only taking away the hair from the surface - not from the root (as long as the hair has a root for the laser to be effective) and as you said do not wax or pluck the hairs away
i think you should ask a professional.... dont rely on people that come to yahoo answers because they have nothing better to do... :]

Hair shampoo and conditioners that don't contain wax or plastic?

I really want one that's not salon or anything, because I'm looking for something cheap. Does John Frieda contain wax?

be sure to check out the videos and reviews...trust me...this product is AMAZING!!!!!

the best there is!!!!!!!!!!Hair shampoo and conditioners that don't contain wax or plastic?
It's best to use shampoos and conditioners that don't contain sulfates. An inexpensive one is Loreal Everpure. Wash your hair every 2 days, blot dry, don't put it up turban style as it can DAMAGE your hair. Cut your use of heating tools to 4x a week. Blow drying is the least damaging to your hair. I let my hair dry naturally most of the way then blow it out for a more polished look. I use Alba natural cocoa butter as a styling product but it makes my hair look sooo healthy!

    Ingrown hair from bikini wax?

I had a bikini wax done a few months ago( wasn't the first time) and shortly after I got this bump that looks like an ingrown hair. I kinda forgot about it until my next bikini wax, so of course I tried getting the hair out. But I guess I only made it worse cause it got all red and it hurt a lot more. I haven't touched it since then and the redness went down. But it hurts if i squeeze it. How do I get rid of it.?Ingrown hair from bikini wax?
    #1

For ingrown pubic hairs along the bikini line, hold a hot compress against ingrown spots for ten minutes three times a day to soften the skin and help the hairs work their way out.

    #2

Wear loose-fitting underwear and clothing until the bumps are gone to avoid friction.

    #3

Some find it helpful to exfoliate the area before waxing. This removes some of the dead skin cells in the top layer of skin cells that often contribute to trapping the hairs.

Exfoliating options include creams, lotions, or body gels, a slightly abrasive washcloth or glove specifically designed for exfoliation. Check at the beauty counter at your local department store.

    #4

Do not exfoliate the skin if you already have ingrown pubic hairs as further skin irritation may result.

    #5

When waxing, be sure to pull the hair out by the roots. Do not allow the hair to break below the skin surface.

    #6

Use Ingrown Hair Treatment (see below). It prevents pubic ingrown hair and eliminates existing ingrown hair within days.

Additional note: For ingrown hairs which are deep, sterilize a pair of needle-nosed tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle. Wipe the area with alcohol afterwards and shave.

If needle-nosed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol, then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only. After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again.Ingrown hair from bikini wax?
Pluck through the loop of hair with a needle or a pin and then pluck it out using tweezers. Hope that helps!
The source below discusses the ingrown hair skin problem.
    thats sick...
dig it gently with a sewing needle.

i get this loads, and this is how i fix it.

i'll do it for you if you want? (joke)

If i wax my face will the hair grow back thicker?

No waxing any part of your body will not ever cause hair to grow in thicker. In fact in some cases waxing and tweezing can destroy the papilla or food source of the hair and could cause it not to re-grow.If i wax my face will the hair grow back thicker?
No, I wax my upper lip all the time and it's only ever had a good effect on the hair.

In fact I used to have to do it every week/week and a half now it's more like every month - sometimes even longer! If i wax my face will the hair grow back thicker?
No, the hair will not grow back thiecker due to the fact that it actually makes the hair grow back in sparse amounts.
Haha we have the same name :P No! The hairs will actually grow back thinner each time you do it. You could try bleaching the hair too.
Nope, it stays the same or gets thinner. DO NOT ! use hair removal cream, its basically like fancy shaving, still leaves prickles.
no, the opposite actually. But use only wax. No creams and a big NO to razors.
no and over time it will start growing back less and less to the point where you wont have to wax anymore!
No, waxing is about the only thing that makes hair grown back thinner.
no. i do it all the time.(upper lip) and they r gettin thinner as i continue doin it!
Your hair NEVER grows back thicker.

  • Shaving/Waxing Hairs?

    hi guys

when i was young ruffley 6/7 ish

i shaved my arms and now im 12 so theyv grown twice the hairs

but i hate it so much!! i just want to get rid of it or maybe lesson the hairs as possible should i go to a beauty salonist and get it waxed?Shaving/Waxing Hairs?
Waxing will keep it from growing back as fast... electrolysis is another good optionShaving/Waxing Hairs?
I'd go with waxing your arms, because it'll last longer..keep in mind that it will hurt though. Shaving doesn't last as long, but it's less painful and since it grows back faster, your arms might start to fell prickly when you touch them after a week. I have a friend who shaves her arms and I guess she shaves them every week or so, because they're so soft, lol..btw she also told me she shaves them with lotion too.
Yes if you wax your hair won't grow back as fast as shaving and your legs will feel very soft.
    just keep shaving.
Another waxing Q??? Damn girl!! You really don't want hair do you??
    i would just shave

its cheaper and u can do it at home
    no theres no need

just shave ur arms......thats what i do

If I want to wax down there, what wax should I use? I hate pubic hair too lol?

oh 1st its betta if u go to a beauty salon cuz its a pretty sensitive area n if u havnt waxed it B4 its not a good way to wax it urself atleast 4-5 times since u start waxin'. goin to a beauty salon is also betta cuz it hurts less n the chances of gettin bruises are less cuz usually if ur amateur u'll see bruises around ur private parts. 2nd if u really insist on waxin it urself u can use VEET READY TO USE WAX STRIPS. ive used it n its good. but make sure that its esp made for sensitive skin. 3rd waxin is always the best way to remove hairs cuz it removes the dead skin that are also bad 4 ur body n health n also it keeps ur skin smooth n after several times most of ur hair'll go away for like eva!If I want to wax down there, what wax should I use? I hate pubic hair too lol?
Well waxing is painful....Try to shave that area with a small electric shaver........Take care.

Instead of waxing, try threading. It's more convenient and cheaper.Should I wax my upper lip hair?
I actually tested this on myself recently. I noticed my upper lip hair was becoming more noticeable and I wondered if wax would work. So I picked a small section of the hair and waxed it (hurt like hell) and waited for it to grow back. It does grow back darker and more noticeable, not necessarily thicker. But I do not recommend it because you won't be happy when it grows back. Waxing is also such a pain. But I used wax, not the strips so your results may be different. I suggest not to do it because right now its really light and once you take it off, it will never be the same no matter what you do.
Waxing is painful. I have used those wax strips and they work really well, sometimes you have to go back over a few stray hairs or just tweeze them. I found an item that sort of sands the hair away at big lots for $5. It's a little more convenient than waxing and less time consuming that tweezing. For a long term solution you could consider electrolysis which I will be looking into soon because you're right, it is embarrasing.
well i pluck mines (its hurts) but my hairs arent very noticeable theyre very thin and light and they dont come back more thick or anything,

u shouldnt bleach them cuz if by accident u do it wrong ull end up with a swollen upper lip!!

you could try threading...its less expensive and better or waxing but either way, u need to do it on a regular basic or theyll be thick and dark but it also depends on the person, like i said mines never come out dark..just like they always are.
If you continue to wax the area, the hair will eventually be not noticeable. Try doing it every two weeks.
WAX THAT SUCKER!! and it'll come thicker. and do it once a month..

Do armpit waxes exist? best way to remove armpit hair besides shaving?

So i shave my armpits, but I'm wondering if anyone else has better success for smoother armpits other than shaving. When I shave, it leaves stubble even when I press hard...and it gets sort of bad by the next day or day after. How can i go longer without shaving and have a smoother area there? Any help appreciated.Do armpit waxes exist? best way to remove armpit hair besides shaving?
Yes Arm pit waxing is available all over , or at least in Sacramento where I live it is. I have waxed mine for years, It leaves the arm totally smooth and it last for a few weeks. I have noticed over time that the hair isn't as thick as it once was either. good luck to youDo armpit waxes exist? best way to remove armpit hair besides shaving?
I have the same irritation with shaving.....and Nair--forget it! My sister had laser treatment done on her armpits, and the difference is amazing. It is a little costly, but it's been 2 years, and she hasn't had to repeat the treatment. The lasers even lightened up the dark pigmentation in the underarm area.

I think the cost was about $300, and you have to have hair color that the laser can detect (i.e. not light blond).
Nair is a great hair remover it dissolves the hair even in the root and it's long lasting.
Yes you can use the same cream (Anne French) or wax which you use for your pubic areas. It will be more smooth and does not pain or itch.
go to any salon , they have armpit wax
I wax mines but the only thing that sucks about it is it has to be a certain length for it to get waxed. So it gets pulled out. So waxing is the best but you have to be hairy first before getting it done.
yeah armpit waxes do exist, i always use to wax my underarms. They are sooo smooth. But now i do laser under my arms. Having laser will definately stop your stubble. I'm getting it at $50 per treatment, and i need 6 treatments. Thats pretty good since i never have to book a nother waxing appointment ever again!!!
wax honey! thats the best way.

I used very cool wax, it was un-microwaved for a long time, will the hair i waxed come in thicker?

No. The hair wont come back any thicker. The product ';GIGI'; has a skin conditioner named ';slow grow'; which reduces hair re-growth. GiGi is a good productI used very cool wax, it was un-microwaved for a long time, will the hair i waxed come in thicker?
Not any thicker than it already was.I used very cool wax, it was un-microwaved for a long time, will the hair i waxed come in thicker?
no i just recently started waxing and i think its great the hair wont come back thicker at all...but dont start shaving the same area after you started to wax...there will b no point

Just got my legs waxed a week ago. Hair is already growing back. Why?

I have been getting my legs waxed for almost a year now. I've gotten great results with it. My legs usually stay smooth for at the very least 2 and a half weeks and I'm not ready for my next wax until a month after getting them done.

I just got my legs waxed last week, and already the hair is growing back. I've been moisturizing them every single day. I don't know what the problem is.Just got my legs waxed a week ago. Hair is already growing back. Why?
Did you go to a new place or get someone new? That could be it. If not maybe try talking to the person who does it for you, maybe they changed their formula or something.Just got my legs waxed a week ago. Hair is already growing back. Why?
Your hair folicles have gotten used to the waxing. They have grown to accomodate all of the pulling out.
    Because you are part yetti!
yea i agree with swimmer person below...its just genetics hun. Your hair just happens 2 grow rapidly
Well, it just depends on the person you are. Some people's hair takes a whole month to grow back, for me it takes about two weeks.
I'm not very familiar with waxing, so this is just something to think about: hair doesn't all grow at a constant rate. All of your hairs are on individual cycles of growth and rest. They will grow for a little bit and then rest, which is partly the reason why laser hair removal takes several visits (you have to catch each hair at a particular growth stage)... or so I've read.

Perhaps this time when you waxed you didn't wait long enough and some of the hairs hadn't begun to grow above the surface yet, but the bulb had reformed, so when you did wax, some didn't get pulled out and are now growing out.

Alternatively, some things can alter your hair's growth cycle, especially hormones. Going off birth control or developing an excess of androgens can cause you to grow hair at an usual rate.

Shave, nair, or wax for first time removing hair?

As a crossdresser, I really want to get rid of my hairly legs, amrs, underamrs, etc so that I can wear a skirt, dress and actually look girly. But, I want to grow the hair back and not make it permanent.

Do you recomend shaving, using nair, or waxing it off?Shave, nair, or wax for first time removing hair?
Nair is not good at all please don't buy that crap because it SUCKS try Veet or waxing. Waxing is a little painful but it really makes you look FABULOUS and your hair doesn't grow back as fast as shaving or nair so its worth the investment. P.S. none of these will permanetly remove hair unless you get laser hair removal lol.Shave, nair, or wax for first time removing hair?
well I dunno for a guy.

But I used Smooth Away and the first time I thought it was great but after a few more uses my legs felt like I had been dragged on concrete. It would be nice for the fine hairs women get on their arms but for a guy? I don't know.

Shaving is cheap and fast, no smelly junk to slather on your body.

I had better luck with Veet even tho there still may be burning or irritation and the smell isnt too pretty either.

I kinda like Veet In Shower stuff for my underarms tho.
NO NAIR!!! It will make you smell like **** %26amp; it burns!!!! D:

Hmm waxing will hurt, but it will last a lot longer than shaving.

It depends how long you'd like to stay smooth for :)

    Just a few days, shave.

    Longer, wax.

Don't wax your forearms, hurts like crazy, shave them.
Nair sucks I hate it, it smells funny and doesn't work thar well and wxing hurts. I shaved my first time but now I got smooth away its a miracle and works its at target for like 10.00 in the as seen on tv section. Shaving really works though.
I would shave. Nair takes a while and can really give you a rash or be painful if you have sensitive legs. Waxing is pretty painful and if you do it your not going to want to go near your legs again. Shave it !
Since this is your first time for hair removal, I would suggest you try Veet. You don't get razor bumps or the pain from waxing/cuts. Good luck with whatever you choose.
You're a man, embrace the fact.

that hair has been there for a specific purpose, why should you shave? wax? no, perhaps gel
The reasons most men shave their pubic area is to make their penis appear bigger and so that oral sex is more pleasurable for their partners. If this is your intention there is a specific way you should do it, otherwise it just looks like youve tried too hard.

    1. use a double blade (like gilette sensor) to shave your scrotum, and any hair on the shaft of the penis. I suggest not using shaving foam, but just light soap, as you want to be able to see what you are doing there. Leave the patch above your genitles alone for now.

    2. Use an electric razor and use a length 2-4 to cut it, but not get rid of it altogether. This is entirely preferential.

    3. Use the electric razor and trim the hair on your thighs, so it doesnt look silly that your leg hair is longer than your pubic hair.

Yes for sure but be carefull while doing the procedures . As it works by pulling the hair out of the skin its long lasting.

Hair removal can be of two methods one is epilation and second is depilation First one removes hair entirely and the second one removes the hair thats above the surface of the skin. If you want to remove hair permanently or for a long time, you have to choose the first option. Epilation methods are

    Plucking

    Waxing ( Sugaring )

    Threading

    Epilators

    Turmeric

    Electrolysis

    Laser

    Intense pulsed light

Waxing can be very painful and as you have discovered, it doesn't always work.

Instead of waxing yourself, try going to your local salon and getting it done by a professional. They do it for a living, so will be well trained and will get better results. It isn't very expensive and I can imagine it is well worth it in the long run anyway.

Another option you have is bleaching the hair. I don't know what country you are from but if you are from England, try Boots Expert Hair Lightener. I use this myself and it is really effective. It works in 10 minutes and doesn't cause any irritation. However, if your skin tone is very dark, bleaching may make the hairs just as (if not more) noticeable.

Never EVER shave your facial hair. This will make it grow back more coarse (as the hair tips will be blunt). You could get bad razor rash and it will look unsightly.

Hope this was helpful for you!

See if you can find someone in your area that does ';threading'; I was at the local mall at a beauty fair and they have FREE threading.. I've NEVER done anything with my eyebrows and I had them threaded. It hurt a little so if you are sensitive to pain I would suggest taking an asprin 30 minutes before the appt. I tipped her $5 and it lasted a month.. I also bought some tweezers to keep up with the new look..! My friend tried to bleach her mustache and it burned her skin making it red and inflammed for about a week! NOT a good look! PLUS in time with threading the hair will grow back thinner since its being plucked out by the roots.... I live in OHIO and I think full face threading was around $20!

    Good luck
of cours its gonna grow back but you can use veet's har removal cream which is less pain ful than waxing if you bleach it you won't see it but if its realy bright outside then your bleached hars will reflect off as shiny.

laser would be the best the hair will never grow back but it is pricey but worth it and i think you have to go back more than one time to get treated
get nair for sensitive areas and you can use it on your face in the areas you need but make sure that your skin isn't broken out or irritated when you apply it to your skin otherwise your skin will become more irritated.
ok...u may think this is stupid (and so will others) but i shave mine every other day

i used to have the same problem as u
You can bleach the hair. Hair removal makes it thicker. And you might should look into electrolysis the removal of hair with a laser.
You should bleach it or if that doesn't work go for the more extreme of laser removal : )
it will always grow back no matter what unless as somebody else says...get it lasered. that's permanent - but costs!
bleach or laser removal are all that I can think of

what's too short? what's too long? How long does hair have to be in order to wax it?
Usually we like it to be about a 2 wks to a month's growth, depending on how quickly your hair grows. if its too short the wax won't pick up the stubbles, so you've wasted your money. How long does hair have to be in order to wax it?
Ok it is a bit hard to explain but in the summer time you have to wait 3 weeks but in the winter time 5 to 6 weeks befor you go to wax it.
Just a few centimeters but for best results it should 3-5. Otherwise it could take several times to remove it.
They told me that your hair has to be about a quarter of an inch, to me its too long, but they said that's how its suppose to be for the strip to wax it off.

That is if you want to continue to get waxed and that's once every month.

Just incase, there is a product that's sold in Bath %26amp; Body Works that's called ';Over the Bump'; it stops the hair from growing over any part of your body. I used to work there. :D
It can be any length, however, best result is 1/8 '; or longer.
hair should be around 1-2 cm
exactly where are you talking about?!

  • Is it better to shave or wax ur hair above ur lip and tell me why?

Wax! Shaving wont last as long as waxing and it will grow back thicker if you shave it. And because its such a small area waxing wont hurt that much.Is it better to shave or wax ur hair above ur lip and tell me why?
If you want to shave, pluck the thick hairs first, then shave. WAY less stubble that way.

Waxing is fine, but there is a lot of mess involved, and you often have to tweeze the hairs you miss anyway. If you go with wax, try the Sally Hansen set that comes in a little square box, labeled ';lip and eyebrow wax';... the wax strips often do not work very well.Is it better to shave or wax ur hair above ur lip and tell me why?
Wax it if you're a girl because you won't get manly stubble and it will take longer for it to grow back and it will be thinner.

Shave it if you're a guy because that's the manly thing to do.
Wax because that way you pull out the root and it takes longer to grow back and if you do it enough eventually it wont grow back at all. if you shave it will make the hairs corse.
the hair grows back darker when you shave it, and also thicker.

when you wax it, it grows back normal.
Waxing. When you shave anywhere, the ends of the hair will become blunt, therefore looking more full.
I think it would be better to shave, even though im 13 and dont have to shave yet.
uhmm. i'd say wax, because razors are too hard on such sensitive skin, and it may cause you to break out in a rash

Have anybody ever waxed their hair down there?

i shave all the time but i never waxed before. how does it feel and did it hurt? when did your hair grow back? i want to know these things so can you help me out.Have anybody ever waxed their hair down there?
There's 2 different ';waxing down there'; Bikini line, that removes only the hair at the sides and a litte at the top if you want.

The other one is ';brazilian';, this one removes ALL the hair, (usually esthetician leave a litte on the venus mount)

I strongly recommend for first timer to get only the bikini line done, so you know how it feels like and gives you time to think if you want to go for the brazilian.

Look for a good salon, don't think about money because this is one of those things when you really don't want to risk your health.

Ask questions, a good esthetician should explain to you the procedure, the risks, and the aftercare.

A good esthetician will use gloves and will never touch you with bare hands. A good esthetician will invest time and very important: she will remove the hair in several strips, not just one or two.

I dont' recommend going for waxing services 3 days before your period, during and after 3 days. This is because we women have less resistance to pain during those days, so the experience would be even more uncomfortable.

Depending on your own type of skin and hair, you can expect seeing hair back in about 3 to 5 weeks.

When you are ready to go, take an aspirin 1/2 hour before your appt.

Good luck!Have anybody ever waxed their hair down there?
I get a brazilian and it HURTS! However, it lasts waaay longer than shaving and looks nice and neat down there! Also, theres no razor bumps so its definitely worth the pain in my opinion. (Plus guys like it :-p
I just got mine waxed down there yesterday. It all depends on your pain and comfort level. I definitely recommend going to a salon that uses blue wax. Personally it doesn't hurt all that much. It definitely beats shaving anyday. It would normally take a week for me to grow back hair about 1/4 of an inch, but with waxing it took me about 3.5 weeks.
No I've never been waxed down there! I just read an article in cosmo about it! It seems very painful! Good luck with that Bogus! Let me know if it makes you cry!
Waxing is the best! It's not really that painful, the anticipation of it is way worse than the actual waxing.

It can cost anywhere from $40 - $100, and the hair usually won't come back for at least a week. I go 4 weeks between waxings, the best part is that if you keep up on it eventually the hair folicle closes completely and stops coming back.

A word of caution, there are a lot of people out there working as waxers that have no idea what they are doing. So, be sure your waxer is certified or (depending on what state you live in) licensed. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the waxer and the atmosphere.

    Good Luck!
Yep and it H-U-R-T-S especially the brazilian ones where they remove ALL the hair and not just the bikini line. It does last longer than shaving and it does illiminate the razor-bump factor (which is personally why I choose to continue waxing). Besides after a while you actually get used to it (or at the very least become familiar with the procedure). I say give it a try if you find it that unbearable then you can always stop or opt to use a hair-removal cream specifically for the hair downstairs. Good luck!
it hurts but it lasts for a bout a day but no worries if u want any other answers the email me k
Brazilian waxes rock. They hurt, but you son't get red bumps like you do with shaving. A product like bikini zone, with salicylic acid to slough off dead skin cells, is also good to use a day or two after to prevent ingrown hairs. I would never shave after getting waxed-the results are superior. Don't try to do it yourself-go to a good salon.

When you wax, which part of the root is the hair pulled out?

All of it, including hair follicle and papilla, which is basically the root of the hair. The reason waxing hurts is because the nerve fibers that connects the hair breaks off. When you wax, which part of the root is the hair pulled out?
this question doesn't really make sense.

Pull an eye brow hair out, you see the round bit at the end? That's the same as in a leg hair or a pube. It hurts no matter where it comes from, the more sensitive the area the more it hurts. When you wax, which part of the root is the hair pulled out?
the bulb of the hair is removed ( this is the root). the bulb of the hair is attached to the blood supply which means sometimes you may get blood spotting when waxing!!!
Ideally, all of it, including the follicle (root).

But if the waxing is not done properly, some or all hairs might just be broken at or above the surface, rather than being completely pulled out.
All of it - the follicle and the hair.

  • Does waxing make you get ingrown hairs?

and if so, is there anything you can do to prevent getting ingrown hairs?Does waxing make you get ingrown hairs?
It can, although generally speaking it causes far less ingrown hairs than shaving. When you wax you remove the entire hair and the root, so an entire new hair has to grow it. Usually they are softer and less noticeable - at least over time.

I quit shaving all together about five years ago and have only waxed because I got rashes and ingrown hair from shaving no matter what I did. And I tried everything - sharper razors, hydrocortisone, creams, gels...

Anyway, waxing will make your skin sensitive for about 24 hours. the general rule is to avoid too much sunlight (some is ok, but don't try to tan), and take warm (not hot) showers afterward.Depending on where you wax it may be sensitive for longer. First time bikini waxing is not fun.

To avoid ingrown hair, a day before you wax exfoliate really well but don't hurt the skin. If you are doing it yourself start somewhere easy to see and easy to apply and remove wax. It hurts. Be brave and do NOT hesistate to remove strip! The longer it stays on the more chance of it taking a layer of skin with it! The more you do it, the less it hurts. Honestly, I would take the pain of waxing anyday over the annoyance of razor burn and frequent shaving. Also, you can take OTC anti-inflammatories before waxing - usually 1-2 hours - and they help minimize the pain and swelling (if you are doing somewhere sensitive).

If you get a ingrown hair, it will be weeks later. Exfoliate to help it come up, and apply basic acne cream to dry it out if it is forms a bump or cyst-like sore. I find that applying antibiotic cream or acne cream and then covering it with a bandaid to hold the cream right on it helps a lot.Does waxing make you get ingrown hairs?

If you wax something does hair still grow where you waxed it? i want to know.?

I was thinking that i should since i don't want to shave. should i?If you wax something does hair still grow where you waxed it? i want to know.?
The hair grows back; it just takes longer than shaving. It rips it out from the root, so it actually doesn't grow any slower, it's just further down and has more length to grow back before you notice it. It makes sense that it would grow back; if you rip a hair out of your head, it'll grow back too.If you wax something does hair still grow where you waxed it? i want to know.?
    yes
hair grows back Whether you shave or wax I've shaved before i havent gotten cut once it looks like wax would hurt a lot more i dont know though ive never tried it
    yup! hair does grow back.
if you cut your hiar dose it grow back
uhhhhhh...yeah it will grow baq but thicker dan it wass
    Yes, it grows back unfortunately!
ya it will grow back in a few weeks... the only way to stop it from growing is laser removal... waxing is much easier than shaving but you do need money every time so make sure you can afford it
Yes it does. It just takes a few more weeks to grow back. Just stick to shaving, it's fine.
    YES
Yes it grows back. The effect lasts longer than shaving and sometimes with repeated waxing, the hair will start to grow in a little finer. But it's not permanent.
    yes it grows back
    Yup
well even if you wax hair will still grow back but just not as fast as it would if you shaved
yes it will grow back it just takes longer, wax pulls your hair out from the root of the folicle so the strand of hair has to grow back from scratch.
    yup
uh yeah duh...the hair grows back but after like a year of waxing one area it will be noticeably thinner and lighter colored.
the hair dorws back but it just takes a littel longer than shaving does.
Yes hair does grow back after you wax. I think the only true way of getting rid of the hair is if you use that lazer treatment on it. I think that is what it is called, but I am not sure. If you plan on getting rid of the hair for good, then the waxing won't take care of the problem for good.
Yes, only lasering gets rid of it for good. I wouldn't recommend that though, it's expensive and hair comes back in style. You might want it back one day.

Upper lip hair im 13 and my parents wont let me get it waxed?

hmm enough said what should i do?Upper lip hair im 13 and my parents wont let me get it waxed?
do you really have to get it waxed?....just get a shaver -_-

that shits gon be there all your life. so its either you start shaving it now and when you need to. or you leave it there, look ridiculous, and shave it later it on. .get rid of it. its not like youre getting a tattoo.Upper lip hair im 13 and my parents wont let me get it waxed?
The only problem you have with getting it waxed now is that it will grow back thicker and darker. So then when you're older if you miss a wax it will be extremely noticable.

A lot of people who I know who got their upper lip waxed at a young age have said they wished they waited a few years as now it grows back quicker.

Just give it time, but if you're really self concious about it, then I would speak to your mum about it, and just tell her how you feel about it.

The only difference it makes if you get it done now is that it's just a bit more dificult in the future is all.
1:bleach it with jolen or you could rub lemon on it and it will lughten the color and make it golden

#2:thread it its really easy and all you need is a peice of thread theres lots of youtube videos on hiow to do it

what i DON'T recommend is shaving it because it amkes ur lip area look more man like and

dont use nair or veet or whatever on it because it will make the area more black and greenish tone

hope i helped and good luck

also if u really want to get it waxed tell ur mom ur uncomfortable sure shell need a little talking but im sure shell understand
that's weird that your parents won't let you get your lip waxed i'm twelve and i get my eyebrows and lip done every month. But don't worry I have your solution this is something I did before i was allowed to get waxed. Go to walmart or wherever you get beauty supplies and get this thing called the magic wand. Its used to as a substitute to pluck eyebrows and lips. It painless to there about 20 bucks if their on sale.
Then pluck it. It'll take longer and will hurt more, but it's really your best option (don't shave, it looks bad).

Or buy your own waxing kit, but than might not end well....self waxing can be, er, problematic.

BTW, no matter what you do, your hair's not going to get thicker. That's an old wives tale and is physically impossible. As for getting darker, well if the hair is sun bleached right now, it will return to it's natural color, but otherwise, once again it's physically impossible for it to get darker.
do NOT shave, itll look like a boys does when they shave their face

Youll get stubble and all that

Ask a beautician for advice on what to do with it, they know what theyre doing and can give you PROPER advice :)
    I say just shave it:]

whats the harm, of course itll grow back but itll also grow back even if you get it waxed

    naw'mean?(;

    lol

    goodluck, have a great day:D
Dont Shave It Cuz It'll Only Get Darker.. I think Tha Same Result WIth Waxing.. You Can Go To Wal Mart And The Have This Cream i Think and It Lightens The Hairs So Its About Invisible.. Try That Nd See What you think
why wont they let you get it waxed? oh well, haha.

you could always just shave it, i did that a couple times lol.
put hydrogen peroxide on it, itll make the hairs lighter so it wont be as noticeable :)

Bellybutton hair, Should I shave it or wax it?

Snail trail and just above the belly button.

Thanks. :)Bellybutton hair, Should I shave it or wax it?
Wax, wax, wax. Make sure the wax isn't too hot, and then rip that sucker off!Bellybutton hair, Should I shave it or wax it?
totally - wax it - when it comes back in, it comes in prickly which can be pretty annoying. waxing really doesn't hurt that bad, and it's fairly inexpensive if it's just a little area there. :)

Once you wax it, the hair will not return for about 3 to 4 weeks and it's really smooth
Leave it as it is, men should have hair on their bodies, and honestly a guy with stubble all over his stomach and chest, not a good look.
    if you're a girl - wax it.

if you're a boy - leave it alone! treasure trails are hot!
    wax it!!!!

my friend shaved it and it looked so much thicker when the hair grew back.
    wax
you should wax it so it doesnt grow back
Waxing will look better....shaving wil make it only to grow thicker and annoy more

Yes, but check for the allergy and also puffiness after waxing. If you are comfortable with that then, yeah you can go for waxing.Be careful around the area of eyes.Sometimes it cause bumps and rashes.
    Ya... It's very safe.
Yes it is very safe but have it done professionally.....it's always safer.
    Yes. Many women do it.

No, that's an old wive's tale. There's no truth to it.

It probably came about because when the hair does grow back, it hasn't been bleached out by the sun yet, so it's darker, and it looks thicker than the ones around it. But if you let it fade, it will be the same as the others afterward.

Getting rid of pubic hair (let's weight the alternatives - wax, shave, cream etc)?

The question speak for itself. Shaving is irritating, plus the more you shave - the hairier you become eww... Waxing is certainly cool, but the pain...awwwwwww. THe cream? Didn't really work for as it looks like you shaved 2 days ago.

What do you prefer?Getting rid of pubic hair (let's weight the alternatives - wax, shave, cream etc)?
Wax, sure it hurts like heck but it will last longer and after a couple of times hair doesn't grow back as thick and it's less. Shaving lasts very little and it will be really really itchy. As for the creams they don't really work very well and they smell. So just stand the pain for a few minutes.Getting rid of pubic hair (let's weight the alternatives - wax, shave, cream etc)?
I got mine lasered a few times. After that the hair was much thinner and easier to shave, i could have got it done a few more times and had the hair permanently removed, but I got a new job and couldn't afford it. I plan to eventually get it finished, and I highly recommend it to anyone. alot less painful the waxing. its about twice as expensive as waxing, but after 5-7 treatments the hair is usually gone forever.

    try ice

use a candy thermometerHair removal with microwave wax, how hot does it need to be?
good luck with this, it is going to be a huge mess! guarantee it! melt the wax until it is runny, try 30 second intervals in the microwave and keep stirring, it should be quite runny. There is no way to really make it pain free.

For clean up.. do not use soap and water! Wax is resistent to soap because of the properties, so it will only stay on your leg. Try taking the rest off with extra strips, and if that doesn't work, use cocoa butter or vegetable oil and rub it on the areas that have wax. This is the only way to get the stuff off.. (cocoa butter works best). Good luck! i did this at home once and probably will go to a less messy way somehow.. maybe buying a wax applicator or pre-wax strips

BRAZILIAN WAX, GO BALD, LESS HAIR IN UR MANS MOUTH WHEN U ARE RIDING HIS FACE.
To prepare for a honeymoon or wearing a summer bikini, some women schedule a bikini (or Brazilian bikini) wax at a salon, spa, or other personal-services business.

To perform a bikini wax, a female technician applies warm wax to a woman's pubic area, places cloth strips atop the wax, and then removes them when the wax hardens by pulling the material off the skin. Often a small thatch of hair is left above the vagina, sometimes in the shape of a heart or triangle.

    Why Have a Bikini Wax?

For a woman with profuse pubic hair, a bikini wax will ensure she isn't embarrassed when showing a bikini line when wearing a thong, string bikini, or other skimpy swim suit. Also, some women and their partners believe that a hairless or nearly hairless pubic area looks and feels more erotic, and say that hair removal makes oral sex more enjoyable.

If you are considering having a bikini wax, keep in mind that the pubic hair removal process can be uncomfortable and that the hair will grow back.
If you want to get all the hair down there removed you have to ask for a Brazilian wax. Bikini wax is just the sides.

those are depilatory creams not waxes. they're only going to work out for you if you have MINIMAL hair growth. if you have average to abundant, find a honey wax that needs a warming pot. be ready, it's not the most plesant feeling. try a professional waxing first
How long did you let the blade less cream sit before you took it off! If you have coarse hair you have to let it set a little longer, and it comes in 3 different scents now!

Just waxed armpit hair but not all of it came off...?

Anything that is unnatural for your hair will damage it, but just as long as you wash it out when you shower next it should be fine.

  • If i wax enough will hair growth stop?

if i wax will the hair ever stop growing in?If i wax enough will hair growth stop?
some hair will stop growing, but the chances of all of it is slim to none, try laser hair removal at a very wellknown and respected companyIf i wax enough will hair growth stop?
    NOPE!
in a perfect world yes. but the answer is no. laser hair removal is the only thing close to permanent removal.
no but u can try this n it worked for me...get nair remover and leave it on ur hair for more then the time recommended mayb at 15 mins more n use a razor to clean off the creme then put some lotion to keep it from burnin n itchin do the lotion on where u got the hair removed n ur hair will start to not grow back in center areas keep doin this method n there r result just bcareful
People say that's the case, I have been waxing my eyebrows for 12 yrs and it still grows back the same???
No the only thing I heard of is that laser treatment but that is really expensive.
I dont think so...I think it will start growing in faster if you wax alot!
Shaving cuts the hairs to a degree. Waxing pulls the roots of the hairs out. An individual can not stop hair growth forever, per say. Hair roots develops again after they have vanished, per say. This is because tiny particles, or roots are left in the skin. Waxing will delay the hair growth, but not completely vanish the roots.
I think it does slow down the regrowth a lot. It is certainly a better option than shaving as that just makes the hair grow back thick and fast.

Can I wax short chest hair?

I am thinking of getting my chest waxed. However, I recently shaved it and the hair is barely showing. Is there a minimum length for waxing? Can I wax short chest hair?
let it get a bit longer so the wax has something to grab on to .

But owwhhh ....did you see the movie 30 YEAR OLD VIRGIN ?

you got some ko-hon-nis or you nut'sCan I wax short chest hair?
yes, as long as the hair is long enough for the wax to grab it(about 1/8 in. long)
    yes ur weird
    you might rip your chest
wait until you can at least pull on it to wax it.it will last longer.
    NO that will really hurt
I would say that I would let it grow a little so that you have something to work with. If you never waxed I would do a test and make sure that there are no reactions.. make sure you use aloe vera gel to calm the redness
I'm sure you could but my girlfriend Nair's my back about every 2 months or so, some people say that Nair does not work but trust me it does. TRY IT ! just don't get the roll on kind.
if its 1/2 inch u can get it waxed
I would suggest that you wait awhile and let it grow out. Quite likely some hasn't grown out yet, so you'd have growth a week or two after waxing.

I was wondering how long does facial hair have to be to be waxed?

It definitely matters. Too short and the wax will have a hard time grabbing the hair. Too long and you run the risk of the hair breaking instead to coming out at the root. The PERFECT length of hair is 1/4 -1/2 inch. If you have thin hair try to get it waxed closer to the 1/4 inch mark because the hair is more fragile. If your hair is thinker grow it out to 1/2 inch because the root is going to be stronger there for you will need the extra length for the wax to grip.

If your a frequent waxer than the root is damaged and doesn't hold the hair tightly anyway so either length will be good.I was wondering how long does facial hair have to be to be waxed?
doesnt matter how long or short it is

Will waxing get rid of ingrown hairs?

No, waxing will only remove those hairs that are above the skin surface.

Look in the African American skin care product section for ingrown hair treatment. I think that one brand is called ';Tends';, it smells horrid but it helps the ingrown hairs emerge from the skin.

Or you can pluck out the ingrown hairs with a pair of tweezers, which is what I do. Make sure that you dip the point of the tweezers in alcohol for at least 10 minutes beforehand, and clean your skin with astringent afterwards. Will waxing get rid of ingrown hairs?
nope. to get rid of ingrown hairs, you can first use an exfoliating body wash and if that doesn't do the trick then you can, as long as you're gentle, use the exfoliating body wash along with a loofah. this should rub away the skin that was covering that hair, if it doesnt then, sorry, but you're gonna have to use some tweezers. it's not all that bad though, it'll sting for a second but then it's all better. and it's worth it. good luck. Will waxing get rid of ingrown hairs?
no, they are under the skin. you need to get some ingrown hair tweezers and pluck them out. sounds awful but doesnt hurt
yes waxing is the best way to go. ihave ingrown hairs as well and thats what worked 4 me
    no

    Wax hair removal?

i have to wear shorts in gym class and i think you are sopposed to let your hair grow for a few weeks before you wax them. i sthere any kind of wax that dosen't require growing hair first? also is there any that dosen't hurt as much? i have never waxed so i dont know anything about it.Wax hair removal?
Yes, to be waxed successfully you do need some growth there, its so the wax can adhere to the hair before being ripped out. I think you can buy do it yourself kits to remove hair thats only 2mm in length. However, I've heard many horror stories about what can go wrong when you're doing it yourself - its one thing letting someone else rip off the strips than trying to pull your own off. That is difficult!!Wax hair removal?
The hair to be waxed has to be about 1/4 of an inch long or more. Sally Hansen makes several waxing products that you can use at home. I've tried the pre-waxed strips, and those are great. You don't have to heat up any wax; the box contains about 15 double-sided plastic strips that are already coated with wax. You just peel apart the strips, apply to the area to be waxed, press down, and zip off! Follow the instructions on the package, it's really easy and the results last for weeks. Good luck! :)

Watch for Serious Skin and when the channels have a show stopper or special deal buy it the stuff is amazing easier and quicker than waxing. I've waxed for years and hated to wait for the regrowth so I could wax with this stuff you don't have to wait. Good luck

    It's a job for experts.

Best idea is to get one of the better women's electric shavers and use that. Impossible to do serious damage with it.
Waxing is temporary hair removal method.

Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
